How we handle a connection
Malpensa to Linate crosses the entire city: sixty kilometres, and between fifty-five minutes and an hour and a half depending on the hour. It is the one route on this site where the fare is genuinely the smaller number on the spreadsheet — the cost of missing the second flight dwarfs it.
So we work backwards from the departure time. We track the inbound flight, we tell you before you land whether the connection is still realistic, and if it is not we say so immediately instead of driving you to a terminal you will not need. In the marginal cases we would rather give you a difficult answer in the air than a comfortable one on the ground.
Terminal matters here too: Linate is a single compact terminal, so a drop-off takes minutes. Malpensa has two terminals four kilometres apart, so the pickup point is not a detail.

How much time should I allow between flights?
Four hours is comfortable for a Malpensa-to-Linate connection, three is workable if both flights are on time, and anything under two and a half is a gamble. We will tell you which of those you are in.
